The I Ching (Yi Jing) is an Amazing Oracle system, especially when you understand what it is saying to you. One of the best ways to get an answer from them is to create a question that makes sense to you first of all.
Pretend you are talking to the elders. Remember, you can’t just rush in and drop a lot of questions on them and expect them to process them as quickly as you dropped them. It takes time for them to search through their experience and wisdom to find just the right answer for you. See the I Ching as a council of elders.
Remember to always ask first questions first and avoid “yes” or “no” questions.
I strongly encourage that you avoid predictions, rather ask how you should conduct yourself in an upcoming situation instead of “what’s gonna happen at our next staff meeting.”
This series of videos may be the most important ones of all because it can be the difference between feeling really good about communicating with the I Ching Elders and throwing the book out of the window!!
Be patient, be calm and be patient some more, formulate your questions with enough details, but not too much, so that the answer can be directed at the question and not at the manner in which you asked it.
The I Ching loves to give you parables, if you get really good at asking the questions you will be able to tell which ones are parables, and which ones are directed at your questions. Think, I need to ask at least 4 questions about any situation.. and you will get off to a good start. Namaste.

The I Ching (Yi Jing) is an amazing oracular system developed in Ancient China more than 5,000 years ago. It continues to have relevance up until this day. It was first developed by an intensely Spiritual Man by the name of Fu Shi who’s ethnicity harkens back to according to some Africa in some reports... In fact, there is a strong correlation between the I Ching and the Ifa system of Nigeria, West Africa.
The first Chinese emperor, the legendary Fu-Hsi (2953-2838 B.C.) was a woolly haired Black man. We humans love our myths, so suffice it to say that “legend” tells us, just in case you may been expecting Fu-Hsi to be depicted that way. I couldn’t find a picture of him when his hair was wooly. SIDE BAR: Back in the 1980’s when I was just beginning to study the I Ching, I had a dream. In this dream I was sitting in a Catholic Church and a priest came down the aisle towards me and told me to go and find this book, “The Tropical Origins of the I Ching.” I actually tried to find that book, but I was not successful. Many years later I read the “African Presence In Early Asia”, and to my utter and may I say, ecstatic surprise, Fu-Shi is mentioned in this book.
He is said to have originated the I Ching, or The Book of Change, which is the oldest most revered system of prophecy. It is known to have influenced the most distinguished philosophers of Chinese medicine and thought.
Fu Shi, having spent some time studying the markings on a tortoise shell was inspired to develop a system that would help humanity understand the everyday changes as well as the celestial changes in the Universe. He started with just two lines, then three, called trigrams and develop these trigrams in reflections of the elements around him. wood, Earth, metal, water, fire. From there came the repeating cycles productive, destructive, controlling and dissolving. Of course as with all Ancient Texts, changes, editions and subtractions have been made, especially in translating it from the Ancient Mandarin.
All in all it comes to us, and from the extensive experience it has given me, it has proven to be one of the best systems around.
I have been using this system without fail for over 40 years. It has guided me through some trying and joyful times. It has given me a stronger ability to intuit and helped me to relinquish my dependence upon it. Over time, one becomes so in tune, that they can “forecast” the hexagrams that may come up in a reading, providing confirmation for each life situation that it is consulted on.
