What Is the Use Of International Law?
Israel's Attempt to Dismantle International Law | Nations' Oral Statements to the ICJ
We can only hope that the International Court of Justice will grow some teeth and pressure countries around the world to comply with its dictates as it relates to what Israel is doing to Palestine. Over and over again, the representatives from various nations have given oral statements decrying the genocide that Israel is perpetrating against the Palestinians in Gaza, West Bank and surrounding areas. Everyone is Hamas to them, even unarmed women, children infirmed and elderly. Israel is setting a dangerous precedent for future war theaters. It has taken a page out of previous war crimes committed in the Middle East and North Africa, yet brands itself as the “most moral army” in the world. If what they are continuing to do is any indication of morality, then we are stepping into a world of utter depravity.
Human history has shown that human beings do dastardly things to one another. If international law cannot forestall the atrocities happening to the Palestinians, then we shall see the escalation of this lawlessness take place in country after country around the world. We are seeing this escalation in Syria and Yemen to name a few.
Imagine a world of copy-cat radical perpetrators who won’t feel restrained by any outcry of “war crimes” or international law.
If the ICJ continues to be a paper tiger it will show the world that it is absolutely impotent and unable to live up to its own charter. Therefore it needs to be disbanded and another more effective entity needs to be constructed.
Many of the oral arguments point to the atrocities being live-streamed in real time across many social media platforms. However, I strongly contend that until each and every country, including the US and its Western allies, admit their own participation and funding of war crimes….. Israel will continue to display a belligerent hubris and move forward to openly and without compunction, destroy Palestine.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) opens public hearings in The Hague on Israel’s ban of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) on Monday, April 28.
It follows a request from the UN General Assembly for an advisory opinion on Israel’s obligations concerning the presence and activities of the UN and other actors in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The court is set to examine whether Israel’s restrictions on UNRWA and humanitarian aid comply with international law.
The hearing is set to run until May 2, with 44 states and four international organisations scheduled to present statements. Israel does not plan to participate orally while the United States does. credit: UNTV
INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE
Blinne Ní Ghrálaigh spoke as part of the Palestinian delegation at the ICC in their case against Israel, where she went into immense detail on the failure of Israel to ensure the basic human rights of Palestinians in Gaza.
Saudi Arabia on Tuesday launched an unprecedented attack on Israel by calling the latter’s action in Gaza an act of ethnic cleansing. Speaking at the International Court of Justice, Saudi envoy Mohamed Saud Alnasser didn’t mince his words when he said that nothing justified Israeli ‘barbarity’ against people of Gaza. He also drew the world court’s attention towards Israel’s disregard for international institutions and attempts to destroy UN bodies such as UNRWA.

The ICJ is not a court but a theater. A court without the means to enforce its rulings, yet one that broadcasts its proceedings, is a theater by any other name. The performers are themselves demons in disguise, appointed by the complicit and guilty parties. They dress in costumes and wear wigs to conceal their horns. Who else but demons in disguise would be bold enough to so elegantly speak of unspeakable crimes with such grace for so long and do nothing? These demons condemn the actions of one party so that their patron devils, the architects of this hypocritical theater, may distract themselves of their complicity of inaction.
