US sanctions UN expert Albanese over Gaza reporting
***********************************************************************************************************
Today, I am imposing sanctions on Francesca Paola Albanese, the United Nations Human Rights Council “Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories Occupied since 1967,” pursuant to President Trump’s Executive Order 14203, “Imposing Sanctions on the International Criminal Court.” Albanese has directly engaged with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in efforts to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute nationals of the United States or Israel, without the consent of those two countries. Neither the United States nor Israel is party to the Rome Statute, making this action a gross infringement on the sovereignty of both countries.
The United States has repeatedly condemned and objected to the biased and malicious activities of Albanese that have long made her unfit for service as a Special Rapporteur. Albanese has spewed unabashed antisemitism, expressed support for terrorism, and open contempt for the United States, Israel, and the West. That bias has been apparent across the span of her career, including recommending that the ICC, without a legitimate basis, issue arrest warrants targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
She has recently escalated this effort by writing threatening letters to dozens of entities worldwide, including major American companies across finance, technology, defense, energy, and hospitality, making extreme and unfounded accusations and recommending the ICC pursue investigations and prosecutions of these companies and their executives. We will not tolerate these campaigns of political and economic warfare, which threaten our national interests and sovereignty.
The United States will continue to take whatever actions we deem necessary to respond to lawfare, to check and prevent illegitimate ICC overreach and abuse of power, and to protect our sovereignty and that of our allies.
Albanese is being designated pursuant to Section 1(a)(ii)(A) of Executive Order (E.O.) 14203.
🗯It seems she must have rattled the cage of skeletons a bit too much with her investigations, her reports, her interviews and her finger pointing at the Global corporations that are complicit in the supporting the genocide in Gaza. It’s pretty shameful when a country turns on a human rights advocate. USA and Israel governments are one and the same. The irony and hypocrisy of our times must mark a tremendous sea change toward total dystopia. The one voice that has enough leverage to bring attention to the genocide in Gaza, is sanctioned, while the Loudest Voice in the room, with no real effort to stop the genocide is nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize by the “greatest” man in the world. If this is a dream, then I must contend, it’s got to rank high on the list of the worst nightmares that could ever have been conceived.
IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFOR THE MAFIA-ISMO THAT GOVERNS THE USA AND ISRAEL SHOW ITS TRUE COLORS FOR ALL TO SEE.
In their idiocy, however, it just draws more attention to her and her claims will go viral as a result. They keep using the same methods expecting different results. Sanctions are economic and political warfare, but it just motivates those who are sanctioned to find other ways around them.

US sanctions Francesca Albanese for exposing western profiteering from Gaza genocide
Last week, Albanese identified more than 60 companies in a report titled “From Economy of Occupation to Economy of Genocide," accusing arms makers and tech firms of aiding and profiting from Israeli settlements and "military operations" in Gaza.
"While life in Gaza is being obliterated and the West Bank is under escalating assault, this report shows why Israel's genocide continues: because it is lucrative for many," Albanese stated in the 27-page report.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor has strongly condemned the US State Department's decision on Wednesday to impose sanctions on the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories Francesca Albanese.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor considered this decision a step that reflects the official US position on any independent attempt to uncover the truth about the crimes of genocide committed by "Israel" in the Gaza Strip.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said in a statement today, Wednesday this decision constitutes a serious deviation from the fundamental principles of international law and human rights, represents a direct targeting of the United Nations and its mechanisms, and threatens the independence of the work of special rapporteurs, who are supposed to enjoy protection and support in carrying out their impartial duties, not be punished for fulfilling part of their responsibilities and calling crimes by their proper names.

Albanese declined to comment to the BBC, but was quoted by Al Jazeera as describing the sanctions as "mafia style intimidation techniques".
It is the latest escalation by the Trump administration as it wages a campaign against the ICC, having already sanctioned four of its judges.
In February, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), which last year issued an arrest warrant for Mr Netanyahu and his former defence minister, Yoav Gallant, as well as several Hamas leaders.
The arrest warrants accuse the Israeli leaders of crimes against humanity and war crimes, including the use of starvation as a method of war. They were issued on the advice of a panel of human rights experts and international barristers.
The warrants mean the 125 countries that are party to the ICC — including Australia, but not Israel or the US — have a legal obligation to arrest Mr Netanyahu or Mr Gallant if they enter those countries.
The Persecution of Francesca Albanese
The sanctioning by the Trump administration of Francesca Albanese, the United Nations Special Rapporteur, is an ominous harbinger of the end of the rule of international law.

UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
On 3 July 2025, Francesca Albanese, Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, updated the Human Rights Council at its 59th session.
The Human Rights Council is an intergovernmental body within the United Nations system comprising 47 States responsible for promoting and protecting all human rights worldwide. It holds regular sessions three times a year at the United Nations Office in Geneva. The Council’s decisions represent the position of the Member States sitting on it, not the United Nations system.
Special Rapporteurs are experts, appointed by the Human Rights Council, who report back to the Council and other UN bodies where Member States meet. Their reports help Member States form common positions on pressing human rights issues. Special Rapporteurs are not UN staff members, and the UN does not provide them with a salary. They work voluntarily and independently to maintain the impartiality of their views.
US issues sanctions against UN investigator probing abuses in Gaza
The State Department’s decision to impose sanctions on Francesca Albanese, the U.N. special rapporteur for the West Bank and Gaza, follows an unsuccessful U.S. pressure campaign to force the international body to remove her from her post. It also comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is visiting Washington this week to meet with President Donald Trump and other officials about the war in Gaza and more.
