I wonder if this is a new occurrence or if it has been brewing for some time. I also wonder if the reason may be that the “defeat” of the Israeli government against the Iranians may have a few folks a bit uncertain about their future and their protection by the government. Surely they saw the fly-over of the missiles and drones on their way to Tel-Aviv. After years of punitive actions against the indigenous Palestinians by the settlers that was supported overtly and covertly by the Israeli government it seems only natural that they would feel a bit insecure.
Many of these settlers if not all of them, are armed reservists who are an extremely dangerous element particularly in the West Bank. One cannot expect them to be otherwise knowing full well that their belligerent mission is protected no matter how brutal they may be to the indigenous Palestinians.

Excerpt: rime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday condemned attacks by settlers on security forces and security sites, in a statement issued hours after dozens of Jewish extremists set fire to a security installation and rioted outside a West Bank base.
“No civilized country can tolerate violent and anarchic acts such as the burning of a military installation, damage to IDF property, and assaults on security personnel by citizens of the state,” wrote Netanyahu in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
The premier also called on law enforcement to investigate the incident and prosecute the “rioters.”
Netanyahu defended the wider settler population as a model community and depicted those who carried out the attacks as a fringe minority.
“The settler community is a model and an example of developing the land, meaningful service in the IDF, and contributing to the cultivation of Torah scholars. We will not allow a violent and fanatic few to tarnish an entire community,” the premier said.
Israeli settlers attack Palestinians and IDF military vehicles in West Bank
TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Dozens of Israeli settlers rampaged around a military base in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, setting fires, vandalizing military vehicles, spraying graffiti and attacking soldiers, the military said.
Sunday night’s unrest came after several attacks in the West Bank carried out by Jewish settlers and anger at their arrests by security forces attempting to contain the violence over the past few days.
More than 100 settlers on Wednesday evening entered the West Bank town of Kfar Malik, setting property ablaze and opening fire on Palestinians who tried to stop them, Najeb Rostom, head of the local council, said. Three Palestinians were killed after the military intervened. Israeli security forces arrested five settlers.
“No civilized country can tolerate violent and anarchic acts of burning a military facility, damaging IDF property and attacking security personnel by citizens of the country,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
Footage on Israeli media showed dozens of young, religious men typically associated with “hilltop youth,” an extremist movement of Israeli settlers who occupy West Bank hilltops and have been accused of attacking Palestinians and their property.
The footage showed security forces using stun grenades as dozens of settlers gathered around the military base just north of Ramallah. The Israeli military released photos of the infrastructure burned in the attack, which it said included “systems that help thwart terrorist attacks and maintain security.”
Far-right Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who has often defended Israelis accused of similar crimes, offered a rare condemnation of Sunday’s violence. “Attacking security forces, security facilities, and IDF soldiers who are our brothers, our protectors, is a red line, and must be dealt with in full severity. We are brothers,” he wrote on X.

Israeli settlers set fire at military base in the West Bank amid growing number of attacks
Dozens of Israeli settlers set fires, vandalised military vehicles, sprayed graffiti and attacked soldiers at a military base just north of Ramallah in the Israeli-occupied West Bank on Sunday night, the military confirmed.
Footage on Israeli media revealed the attackers consisted of a group of young, religious men, typically associated with "Hilltop Youth," an extremist movement of Israeli settlers that occupy West Bank hilltops and have been accused of attacking Palestinians and their property.
In a response to the violence, the military had used stun grenades at dozens of the settlers. The military released photos showing infrastructure that had been burnt in the attack, which it said included "systems that help thwart terrorist attacks and maintain security."
Far Right settlers damage IDF facility worth millions, meant to protect Jewish residents
Far Right Jewish settlers vandalized and set fire to a military facility on Sunday night, the IDF confirmed on Monday morning. A KAN News report noted that millions of shekels had been invested in the facility to defend Jewish residents of the West Bank. This included cameras and systems to monitor and thwart terrorism in the area, the military added. Photos shared by the IDF Spokesperson's Unit show graffiti sprayed on the walls of the facility. Security officials are currently investigating whether the functionality of the facility was affected by the incident, KAN's report added.
Sources say police are delaying restraining orders meant to keep violent far-right settlers out of the West Bank, especially since Israel's defense chief stopped issuing detention-without-trial orders for Jews in November. The police are avoiding enforcement of most administrative restraining orders issued against far-right activists in the West Bank, several defense officials told Haaretz. The police have also been delaying serving these activists with restraining orders, defense sources said. Administrative restraining orders are an important tool that is used by the Shin Bet security service and the Israel Defense Forces to keep violent activists out of some regions of the West Bank, or out of the Israeli-occupied territory entirely.
The voices of reservists are often heard. They speak out about the impact on their businesses, their families, and the inequality they feel compared to segments of the population that don't serve. But the voices of active-duty soldiers, those doing the daily fighting for nearly 21 months now, remain largely unheard and unknown to the Israeli public.
Even when journalists are embedded with IDF combat units, what they see isn't the day-to-day reality – it's a carefully orchestrated performance. Soldiers interviewed are handpicked by commanders and IDF spokespersons and thoroughly briefed on what they can and cannot say. And so, reporters return with the same clichés: "This is a generation of lions," they declare. "Morale is sky-high."
