Typically, when someone has a strong attachment to their land and/or property, they tend to fight to keep it. It reminds me of some of the “natural disaster” situations where the residents refused to leave, no matter how high the water got or how hot the fire got. They couldn’t be coaxed out and in some cases had to be airlifted as they stood on the rooftops of their homes. I seen folks video tape from the inside of their homes while the fire raged all around them only to have no choice but to leave in order to save their own lives.
THE IRONY
On the other hand we have a people, who claim that a land was given to them by “God” in a unbreakable covenant so many thousands of years ago. This covenant gave them, their progeny and their family dog, claim to this land. This claim gave them the right to evict, expel, exterminate, obliterate and annihilate anyone, including their pets, when they arrive to take (steal) the land back to its rightful owner. However, now we see a real life Exodus happening, but without Moses at the helm. All of a sudden the Balfour Agreement means nothing. Netanyahu’s appearance in the USA Congress, UNSC, UN or any other international body claiming “God” gave his people the land is not stopping these people from leaving. They are not searching their closets for the deed to the land, nor the purchase orders. They are not digging in their heels and refusing to go into a bomb shelter. They are not stocking up with food and hunkering down for the long haul under their beds.
They are taking planes🛫🛫🛫.
They are taking buses🚌🚌🚌
They are taking boats🚢🚢🚢
Some are even on foot, but they are getting the “hell” out of the Promised Land!!
What a difference a few bombs make when it comes to “God’s” 3000 year old proclamation of land ownership and “reality”. All of a sudden these chosen folks are choosing to “escape” to where they really came from, to their “real” roots and the place they now, happily call home. Poetic Justice, perhaps?
ON THE OTHER HAND WE HAVE 👇🏾
This video which helped me so much to understand the “passion” the Palestinians have for the “land”. The Exodus of the Israeli “settlers” shows the stark difference between “settlers” and the people who really belong to the land.
THEN WE HAVE THOSE “LEFT BEHIND”
For any number of reasons the 10 thousand homeless Israeli settlers, along with the ones who escaped their homes not knowing if they will have a home to return to, are duking it out in the bomb shelters.
There are also reports of chaos in Israel’s bomb shelters, as Christians and foreigners are being blocked from entering. I find this phenomenon quite interesting if not amazing, as we had a very entitled people who felt within every fiber of their being that they were just where they were supposed to be, and yet, now they don’t want to be there any more. It definitely causes one to ponder the hype about a so-called Promised Land; the death and destruction that took place due to this hype; the discrimination, racism, wars, hatred, vile abuse of the indigenous inhabitants; the racking up of billions of USD’s to keep this sacred cottage afloat; the free health care and advanced lifestyle compared to the natives; the exceptionalism and misappropriation of land that was cultivated by the natives; and lest I forget, the approval of the “genocide” of the indigenous; this and so much more. Now, these very same folks are leaving in droves, despite the imposed lock down by the Israeli government. These folks are finding a way out and praying they get out before the bombs blast “them” to smithereens.
YOU CAN TAKE A PERSON OUT OF A COUNTRY BUT YOU CAN’T TAKE THE COUNTRY OUT OF A PERSON.
Placing a Western State in the middle of West Asia, was more than an notion, it was an anomaly, one of which should never had happened to begin with.
Bottom line, these folks have shown the world that their attachment to a 3,000 year old covenant with “God” is not as powerful as their attachment to saving their lives.
This may or may not happen, but maybe, just maybe, these folks will begin to appreciate how the indigenous folks they had hoped to exterminate, did not need an ancient covenant with the land. Their blood, sweat and tears into the very soil of the land, was enough for them to know that they belonged it.
